Animals Dreaming

Right now, animals are dreaming all over the world. Fantastical creatures conjure stars that are twinkling jewels, the salty sea, springtime blooms bursting through the earth, wings to fly towards the glittering sun, and other surprises. The act of dreaming is celebrated as a means to transport us to other worlds where anything is possible.

Animals Dreaming is part of Set I in the Artists’ Board Book Series. Combining the conventions of artists’ books with those of children’s board books, the Artists’ Board Book series was inspired by the delight and creativity with which young children visually and physically explore books. These books offer physical experiences with art for lookers and readers of all ages.

Jessie Mott is a visual artist and writer whose work employs a menagerie of human, animal and celestial forms. Mott’s work has been included in many solo and group exhibitions;  her collaborative animations with the artist and writer Steve Reinke have been screened nationally and internationally and will be included in the 2014 Whitney Biennial. Mott lives and works in Chicago.
